Diamond Drilling – Intermediate

This 3 day course is for candidates who have some / limited experience with drilling,.  The candidate will be coring holes in structural fabric, horizontally, vertically, at an angle and stitch drilling techniques. On successful completion of the course candidates will gain a basic set of skills to be able to core holes in a safe manner, the candidate will then gain site experience under supervision and when he is ready he can gain an SVQ/NVQ Level 2 Qualification   

Day I

introduction to concrete technology, the candidate will learn about the manufacturing of a diamond segment, the importance of using the correct segment for the type of material it will be cutting i.e. Reinforced concrete, asphalt, brick/stone, granite etc… The candidate will Learn about the different types or drill rigs and the uses / limitations for each.

Day 2

candidate will be introduced to the drill rig where they will learn how to service and maintain, how to connect the drill motor to the drill stand, how to select the proper gear for the core they will be using, how to adjust the and level the drill stand.

Day 3

candidate will learn how to core holes as described above, they will learn how to stitch drill openings and how to core holes up to a depth of 1metre where they will learn how to remove cores from the hole and from the core barrel correctly.

During the course the candidate will be assessed and scored where they will pass or fail.

A certificate will be issued to the candidate to cover 2 years after which time, with further site experience, they can progress to achievement of an S/NVQ level 2 Qualification.
