CISRS Scaffolding Inspection Training Scheme (SITS)

Duration: 3 days

This course is for current CISRS card holders or for SITS card holders who need to renew their card. You will have experience of scaffolding structures, be responsible for inspecting and checking basic scaffolds for safe use, and signing certificates and registers in accordance with statutory regulations.

It will help you develop an understanding of components, construction and the inspection procedures for basic access scaffolds and how to comply with current legislation and Codes of Practice.

At the end of the course you’ll gain a CISRS Scaffolding Inspection Training Scheme (SITS) certificate and can apply for a CISRS inspection card.

  • Tubes, boards and fittings
  • Ladders
  • Gin wheels and ropes
  • Scaffold ties

Construction regulations and recommendations of basic scaffolds to include:

  • independent tied scaffold
  • putlog scaffold
  • birdcage scaffold
  • static tower
  • basic independent tied scaffold
  • scaffolds with prefabricated beams
  • protective fans, pavement gantry
  • loading bay, roof saddle scaffold
  • splay scaffold roof edge protection
  • practical inspection
  • reports.

Teaching and assessment

  • Teaching is a mix of classroom-based theory, practical exercises and computer-based training.
  • The final assessment involves written and practical tests

Qualification

  • CISRS Scaffolding Inspection Training Scheme (SITS) certificate

Entry requirements
You must either be able to provide evidence of passing a CITB Health, safety and environment (HS&E) test within 23 months; or you must hold at least one of the following:

  • Current CCNSG Passport to Safety
  • NEBOSH Construction certificate (taken within 23 months)
  • Current Offshore Survival certificate/Card
  • FAS Safe Pass
  • SMSTS (taken within 23 months)
  • SSSTS (taken within 23 months).
