Course Aims
To provide thorough practical and theory excavator 360 above 10 tonnes training, to enable the candidate to competently and safely carry out the role and pass the CPCS Theory and Practical Tests.
Course Content
Describe the nature of the sector of industry and their role and responsibilities as a plant operator
Name and explain the purpose of principal components, the basic construction controls and terminology
Conform with manufacturer’s requirements as per the operator’s manual, other types of information sources and relevant regulations and legislation
Undertake all pre-use checks
Configure and set for travel (site and highway – where applicable)
Travel over rough, undulating ground, substantial inclines and level surfaces
Manoeuvre in confined spaces
Configure and set for lifting operations
Explain actions required for hazards, underground and overhead services
Lift, move and place a variety of slung loads
Travel with slung loads
Carry out shut down and securing procedures
Our standard course covers endorsements A – Tracked and C – Lifting Operations. Please note the A endorsement is levy approved, however the C endorsement is not.
Qualifications Obtained
This course will give delegates a CPCS Red Trained Operator card (on successful completion of both CPCS Technical tests) valid for 2 years. You must work towards and achieve your SVQ/NVQ in Plant Operations within these 2 years to upgrade to a CPCS Blue Competent Operator card.
Entry Requirements
The relevant CITB Health Safety & Environmental test must be current and in date (completed within the last 24 months).

Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) Testing is carried out to CPCS standards by CPCS Approved Testers. CPCS testing consists of passing a Health, Safety and Environment test, then a CPCS Theory Test followed by a CPCS Practical Test. All tests may be monitored by CPCS.
