CPCS Telehandler A17C (All Sizes Excluding 360 Slew)
The course is for those who want to train as a telescopic handler – no experience needed. If you pass the technical tests, we apply for the CPCS Trained Operator (red) card.
The course includes:
Understand operator responsibilities, site safety, and relevant regulations (PUWER, LOLER, CDM)
Identify telehandler components, controls, safety systems, and attachments
Carry out daily pre-use inspections, checks, and basic maintenance
Safely mount, dismount, and operate the telehandler
Manoeuvre the telehandler over varied site conditions, inclines, and confined areas
Lift, move, and place loads using forks, buckets, and other attachments in line with SWL limits
Work safely around site personnel, other plant, and obstacles
Recognise and manage hazards, ground conditions, and environmental risks
Conduct safe shutdown, parking, and securing procedures
Prepare for CPCS theory and practical assessments, including load handling and operational tasks.
Teaching and assessment
3 days classroom learning and practical exercises
1 day CPCS technical tests.

Entry requirements
CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test passed within two years of course start date.
Good spoken and written English.
