WHO IS IT FOR?
ConstructTuition has developed this course to equip those with a supervisor role working in the construction industry with the knowledge and skills required to plan, manage and inspect reinforced concrete works on their project.
Roles attending include engineers, apprentices, forepersons, site managers, project managers, quality staff and HSQE professionals. It is also suitable for other personnel who have an overseeing role such as clerk of Works, Designer site representative, NEC supervisor or project manager.
Upon successful completion of the course, learners will have the practical skills to make key decisions to improve the quality of the concrete on their project.
COURSE CONTENT
This is a 1day course – 9am -4pm course and covers the following topics.
Planning for reinforced concrete
Reviewing the specification and Mix Design – The key information to consider regarding quality.
Logistics and Temporary Works consideration.
Concrete Testing
Consistency / Slump and Compressive strength – Concrete Cubes and reviewing test results for conformity.
Pour Concrete
Placing and compacting, curing concrete and record keeping.
Reinforcement
Traceability of reinforcement – Identifying counterfeit product
Reading Reinforcement Drawings – understanding the Bar Mark information, including shape code and position.
Fixing of Reinforcement – Best Practice to achieve Quality.
The course contains practical elements of concrete testing and inspection so it can be facilitated on a live construction project or in a suitable venue.
