This course provides learners with the skills to effectively manage and supervise setting out activities.

COURSE DETAILS
The purpose of this course is to help reduce the number of setting out errors, improve productivity, improve cost
efficiency, reduce wastage resulting from small but cumulative setting out inaccuracies, reduce the need to pay over
inflated rates for poor quality agency Engineer and ensure records are being kept to support claims or Compensation
Events.
WHO IS IT FOR?
Setting Out For Construction has developed this course to equip those within supervision, management, training and
quality control roles working in the construction industry with the knowledge and skills to effectively manage,
supervise, recruit for and ensure the correct training for setting out activities.
Roles attending include engineers, forepersons, site managers, project managers, training managers, recruitment and
quality staff. It is also suitable for other personnel who have an overseeing role such as clerk of Works, Designer site
representative, NEC supervisor or project manager.
Upon successful completion of the course, learners will have the skills they need to assess setting out culture, ensure
the correct systems and procedures are in place, recruit effectively for setting out roles, assess the competence of
those involved in setting out, and ensure the right technical and mentoring support network is in place.
COURSE CONTENT
This is a 1day course – 9am -4pm course and covers the following topics.

Ask the right questions to ascertain if an Engineer has the right mindset

Assess whether your existing systems and procedures are supporting optimum productivity and minimising the chance
of costly errors
List the most common bad practices and describe how to spot them

ABOUT
Setting Out for Construction specalises in providing practical training in site surveying and setting out and support
for managers and supervisors. The training helps engineers be more flexible, more productive and minimise the risk of
costly errors. Training includes all types of setting out software and equipment including levelling, Total Station,
GNSS, drones, laser scanner, AutoCAD and 3D mapping and modelling software.
