SuDS – Engineering Aspects: Introduction

March 28, 2019 11:09 am Published by

The course is based on “The SuDS Manual” published by CIRIA. SuDS are gradually attaining acceptance as the preferred method for draining surface water from new developments. For SuDS to operate correctly they require careful attention to the engineering aspects and an understanding of what problems can arise. The course is aimed at the engineering aspects of SuDS design rather than the amenity and water quality aspects. Delegates should finish the course understanding: why SuDS are necessary the types of SuDS available and their uses what we mean by “the management train” determining green field run-off (IH124) simulating a rainfall event determination of infiltration rates how these rates are used in the design and sizing of infiltration devices how to calculate... Ground Investigation 2 – Interpretation for Design

March 28, 2019 10:21 am Published by

Ground investigation is an essential part of any construction project.  The objectives of a Ground investigation must be clearly defined according to the nature of the project and its Ground.  The investigation must be designed and executed appropriately so that it will yield the quantity and quality information on ground and ground water conditions necessary for economic design and construction. The course explains the approach to designing a Ground investigation and explains how a Ground investigation is carried out with different in situ tests and sampling methods, followed by a discussion of laboratory tests and interpretation of results.  The course will be based mainly on BS 5930: 2015 Code of practice for Ground investigations and Eurocode 7. AIMS & OBJECTIVES:... Read more
