CECA Academy Briefing 15th March 2023 The CECA Scotland Academy is an industry driven programme designed to create a pathway from full time education into employment into the civil engineering sector in Scotland. There is no existing pathway and Board of CECA Scotland have committed to addressing this gap to create a pipeline of new talent into the sector to address the chronic skills challenges. This is an entry level operative programme. The CECA Scotland Academy will attract, train, qualify and support new entrants into the Scottish civil engineering sector. It’s been a challenging time for the economy, finances of businesses and workers under pressure. From April 1st CITB is: From April 1st CITB is doubling grant rates for short courses to help businesses offer more training and support employers delivering core skills to teams amid rising costs Grants up to £240 will be made available to support employers with their training needs, including leadership and management courses Increasing the grant rates for specific supervision and management qualifications Increasing the grant rate for specific supervisory and management short qualifications to support the changes announced by CSCS that all industry accredited card holders must have a recognised qualification. Temporary Works Co-ordinator Course Content Update

Prior to attending a TWC course,  learners are expected to have a working knowledge of the following legislation: Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007 Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM) 2015 Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 The Personal Protective Equipment Regulations 1992 The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 The Work at Height Regulations 2005. CITB EN GRANT BACK is now 75%

We are now into the final 6 month period of the Employer Network GRANT BACK project which we are running on behalf of CITB.  Our CITB registered companies get 75% of their costs back after training is completed.   This means that you can ask us for a huge variety of training that you may need – we will arrange it with the training provider,  charge you for it,  then after completion, send you 75% of the costs in lieu of a CITB grant.  You won’t have to make any claims.   It’s very simple and with any luck CITB might make grant claiming easier in future.  If you want to take part, please get in touch or take a...
